The Cre8 programme on the Moss Rose Estate was alive with music, art, stories, food and celebrations during their recent Festival to celebrate young people and community and 10 years of Cre8. The theme for the week was True Light.
Activities included: a Youth Music Event at St Michaels Church - run and featuring performances by young people from the Cre8 project; storytelling at The Park Tavern on the theme of ‘Light’; community games evening, free lunches and opportunities to meet the Cre8 team; a local business supporters evening; and reopening of the community wildlife area. The finale of the Festival was a Hog Roast and celebration evening showcasing Cre8’s activities over the last year. The Festival was very much a community event, organised and run by young people, adults and families involved with the Cre8 project over the last 10 years. The week of activities – held from 11th – 17th June - was enjoyed by over 250 people, including David Rutley MP, Lord Lieutenant David Briggs MBE, High Sheriff of Cheshire Kathy Cowell OBE, and the Mayor of Macclesfield Cllr Alift Harewood-Jones. Due to increased demand from schools and education authorities the Cre8 Youth and Community Programme is looking for a session worker to work on the Cre8 Learning Plus one-to-one education project. If you are patient, able to work flexibly, fairly competent in key skills (literacy and numeracy), able to display a calm disposition and keen to work as part of a team then this role could be for you. Some teaching or youth work background is helpful but not essential. Cre8 is a well-established, full-time programme based on the Moss Rose Estate in Macclesfield and you will be part of a team of professional workers, students and volunteers. This is a role for someone wishing to work with marginalised young people who, for a variety of reasons, are not in full-time or mainstream education. You will find fulfilment in helping young people realise their potential. An Application Pack can be downloaded by clicking on the following documents:
If you would like to speak to someone about this job please contact Steve Drake (Learning Plus Supervisor) on 01625 503740. Completed applications should be returned to the Cre8 office: Cre8 is committed to safeguarding. Successful applicants will be required to complete an enhanced DBS disclosure check.
Have a look through the photos from the activities during the Festival week, see if you can find yourself, and if you weren't there - well why?!! Make sure you're there next time! The One to One project likes to try new things and today Tom and Max have been experimenting with flying eggs. The challenge was to create a way for some little eggs (laid by the wonderful chickens at the House) to slowly and safely float down from the upstairs window of the House to the concrete floor below. Max went for the bouncing ball option; Tom created a glider - see the results of their creations below... |
