Yesterday we said goodbye to Roger; a long time volunteer, friend and supporter of Cre8. He'd been involved right from the very beginning and had done everything from digging on the Garden Project at St Barnabas Church in 2006 with young lads who weren't going to school, through to making model airplanes at Clubs. He was also a wonderful ambassador for Cre8 - telling his story and sharing what Cre8 was about.
He will be remembered by our young people; patiently sitting with them in a corner of the Church hall creating the most brilliant model planes, and eventually flying them around the hall or the garden. Lots cheers (and some ducking!) as the planes went all over the show! We each have our own good memories. To hear at his funeral about how much it meant to Roger to volunteer at Cre8 and how much he got out of it; how important it was to him to use and share the skills and talents God had given him, was very special. He was involved in so many things in and around his community - not just Cre8. Doing whatever was needed. Car park attendant at Church when the Cancer Care days were happening was just one of the things he did. He wanted to make sure that people coming for treatment had somewhere closeby where they could park and didn't have to worry. Roger wrote this piece for his Church magazine last year. It's about how he came to be involved with Cre8 - the start of his journey with us. http://www.cre8macclesfield.org/roger.html You will be missed Roger, thank you for sharing some of your story with us.
