Jenny P, Music Trainee (it rhymes)

What does a music trainee do?

I've been the music trainee for the past 6 months, My job is to basically make sure children are nice to each other (!) at Drop In and try to teach the young people how to play instruments and songs. I also take part in organising concerts and trips that the music project does.

What I find difficult at drop in is not being able to teach small children to play instruments, the older ones are alright but the little tiny ones don't really stand a chance because they're a bit too young and it can get a bit crazy at drop in. I feel like I am getting more confident in trying to teach - but it does stress me out some times.

I have had many highlights in the time I have been here but my favourite has to be when I played in the Ceilidh band at the Festival. I'd not really done anything like that and it was so exiting to see everyone joining in and enjoying themselves and also not caring how daft they looked.
