How do we achieve this?

We are deeply rooted in the community. Our staff team are unique in that most live and work on the Moss Rose Estate. Many of our staff have lived experience and were part of Cre8 when they were young. This means we have strong relationships across the community and are trusted. The organisation is supported by a network of volunteers and a strong trustee group.

We foster a learning culture to help staff and volunteers to be the best that they can be, and support those within the community who want to make change happen. This includes a young leader programme encouraging the next generation of youth and community workers – local people empowered to support local people.

Our Foundation Principles are Faith, Change, Community.

Faith: We are an organisation with foundations in Christian principles. We believe that each person is uniquely incredible, and designed to flourish and be active empowered members of community. We believe our lives can be changed by building community, treating each other with care, forgiveness and respect. Mutual relationships and trust in God are at the heart of this journey together.

Change: We work locally to achieve profound change as part of a wider movement for social justice and equality. This changed is not based on need but uses an asset based approach; i.e. we seek out what is strong in people and in our community and work from there.

Community: We believe in the power of communities and the abilities of all people. We celebrate the unique value of every person and recognise our need of one another.

Cre8 began in 2005 as an initiative of Churches Together in Macclesfield, supported by a wide number of local Churches including St Barnabas' Church on Lyme Avenue on the estate.

Formal links were established with St Barnabas in 2011 when Cre8 Macclesfield became an independent charity with St Barnabas appointing three of Cre8's trustees.

The work of Cre8 is now part of the community outreach of St Barnabas, and a number of its activities take place within the church building and on its premises.

Cre8 Safeguarding Policy Statement

Cre8 is a charity built on Christian principles and our activities are focused on empowering people to break free from the barriers or difficulties that make life especially hard. Cre8 is committed in all areas of its work to providing a safe, welcoming environment, where all people are treated with dignity, honesty and respect. It is the responsibility of everyone to prevent physical, sexual, or emotional abuse or spiritual, domestic abuse or neglect and to report any actual or suspected abuse that comes to light.

We are committed to:

Care, nurture and empowerment of all children, young people and adults.
Safeguarding and protection of all children, young people and adults.
Establishing of safe, caring communities which provide a loving environment where there is a culture of “informed vigilance” as to the dangers of grooming and abuse.

We will carefully select and train all those with any responsibility within Cre8 in line with safer recruitment principles, including the use of application forms, interviews, references and disclosure and barring checks. Every worker and volunteer will undertake training in Safeguarding and seek to update their knowledge annually.

We will respond without delay to every complaint made which suggests that an adult, child or young person may have been harmed, cooperating with the police and local authority in any investigation.

We will seek to work with anyone who has suffered abuse, developing with him or her an appropriate intervention based on informed pastoral care.

We will seek to challenge any abuse of power, especially by anyone in a position of trust.

We will seek to refer to the proper authorities any member of our community known to have offended against a child, young person or vulnerable adult.

In all these principles we will follow legislation, guidance and recognised good practice.
