High Sheriff of Cheshire's Award 2016
Cre8 was thrilled and honoured to receive an Award from the High Sheriff of Cheshire, Bill Holroyd, in recognition of the different Cre8 is making on the Moss Rose Estate in Macclesfield. The culmination of the year for the High Sheriff was to acknowledge specific individuals or voluntary groups by presenting them with a High Sheriff Award to recognise their valuable services to the community. It was a great honour and wonderful recognition for Cre8 to receive this Award.
Pip Mosscrop, Cre8’s chair of Trustees, went along to a special evening presentation of the Award, along with Rachel Bradley, a Cre8 worker and volunteer, and Beverley Frost from Cre8’s Learning Plus project. They had a thoroughly enjoyable evening at Abbots Moss Hall, with a drinks and canapes reception and the opportunity to meet people from across the county. What an experience!
Cre8 was lucky enough to host the High Sheriff for a visit and tour of Cre8 earlier in January. It was great to have the High Sheriff at some of our projects and to meet some of our young people. He started his visit by meeting young people from the Learning Plus project – who come to Cre8 for alternative education placements and are referred from schools and agencies across the county. He then went and met young people and young adults employed on one of our social enterprise businesses ‘Cre8 Works’. These young people are employed to work one or two days a week doing grounds maintenance contracts and tree work. Finally the High Sheriff joined in during one of our Cre8 Music drop-in sessions. He met young people who come along after school for professional music lessons and to learn music theory and how to use the recording studio. Everyone really enjoyed meeting the High Sheriff and chatting about what they do. They were also really keen to have ‘selfie’s’ with the High Sheriff in full uniform!
After his visit the High Sheriff commented: “I was hugely impressed with the work of Cre8 and I loved the way you have made something out of nothing in your community for the benefit of all.”
We continue to be very grateful for the enthusiasm, time and trouble that groups and individuals like the High Sheriff, put in to supporting Cre8. We cannot thank them enough.
