Making Change Happen

Young people who complete their Level 1 Award in Cre8's music accreditation scheme get to go to a gig - this was Justin Bieber's Purpose Tour!!
What is Cre8?
Cre8 Macclesfield Youth & Community Programme comprises a charity and a social enterprise business, all based on the Moss Estate in Macclesfield. Cre8 is part of the work of St Barnabas Church on Lyme Avenue - also on the Moss Estate.
  • Our charity runs activities and services for children, young people, young adults, and their families, focusing on those who are at risk or hard to reach.
  • Our social enterprise (Cre8 Facilities) employs young people and young adults doing commercial vehicle washing.
Cre8 is a full time programme staffed by qualified youth workers, supported by student youth and community workers, and volunteers, many of whom live on the Estate.

You can read more about what we believe and why we do things further down this page...

Why we do things
Cre8 runs activities which help to build community and help people to feel a sense of belonging to their community. These include:
  • Common tasks for the benefit of others
  • Eating together
  • Having fun together
  • Celebrating when people do something to help others
  • Encouraging relationships between young and old
  • Being active in the community

What we do
We try to do things which help to reduce what corrodes and gnaws away at the emotional, physical and spiritual well-being of people in our community, such as
  • Re-engaging with education
  • Becoming employable and getting work
  • Getting free from drugs and alcohol
  • Relieving boredom by doing fun things like outdoor activities
  • Mending relationships damaged by fear, greed or self-interest
  • Providing positive role models especially for young men
  • Improving nutrition and general health and well-being
  • Reducing bullying, gang mentality and aggressive behaviour
  • Building a sense of well-being and safety, free from fear
  • Helping people to make better life choices and find fulfillment
  • Building self-esteem and self-worth

Our vision
Cre8 is an organisation with foundations in Christian principles.  We believe people's lives can be changed by building community, treating each other with care, forgiveness and respect.

Our vision is for people to be able to free themselves from things that hold them back like poor health, damaged relationships and unemployment, and to get access to good things like friendship, education and training, work, and fun.

We work locally to achieve profound change as part of a wider movement for social justice and equality.

Our values

Our values are:
  • Care and compassion
  • Social justice
  • Generosity
  • Forgiveness
  • Honesty and trust

Our history and relationship with St Barnabas Church
Cre8 began in 2005 as an initiative of Churches Together in Macclesfield, supported by a wide number of local Churches including St Barnabas' Church on Lyme Avenue on the estate.

Formal links were established with St Barnabas in 2011 when Cre8 Macclesfield became an independent charity with St Barnabas appointing three of Cre8's trustees.

The work of Cre8 is now part of the community outreach of St Barnabas, and a number of its activities take place within the church building and on its premises.
